Romantic Suspense

Elena Kyler is on the run. A drug lord wants her son - their son. She knows the DEA wants Chavez, so she makes a deal. She comes to the States and they give her citizenship, and Chavez is sure to follow so the DEA can take him down.

Sean Galen is a mercenary who didn't want to take the job of getting Elena and her son out of Columbia. The DEA agent asking, however, is a friend - or, as much of a friend a mercenary can have. The problems occur when people who have been bribed by Chavez are trusted.

Elena had been trained in guerilla warfare by her father since she was a child, and she is one tough cookie. Not just physically, but emotionally as well. She has had a lot to deal with. And some readers may find some of what she has to deal with disturbing. It's not to say that she doesn't act human. She's just not overly emotional about the bad things. And she will do whatever it takes to protect her son.

Galen may be tough, but he isn't without feeling. After his part in getting Elena to the States is over, he can't stay away. He's also very understanding of Elena. He is a protector and a problem solver. When it comes to Elena and her son, he did find solutions for her problems, even the emotional ones.

This is not a typical romance. It's more of an action/adventure story with a bit of romance thrown in. The book is non-stop action, complete with blood and death. It's definitely not for the faint of heart! It kept me enthralled from beginning to end. Iris Johansen's books always have that effect on me, and she definitely delivers!
